‘Nutrition is giving your body, and more specifically your mitochondria, everything they need to produce energy’

– Dr. Henele

The Energetic Health Institute of California

There is an over-abundance of noise and confusion surrounding health and nutrition. It seems that we receive conflicting information around every corner. This is frustrating for many and we don’t know what we should or shouldn’t eat. This is no coincidence. The truth is that we live in a society that heavily profits from the confusion. Financial gain comes from the sale of specific food products that induce disease which then leads to more profit from doctor visits and pharmaceutical drugs. It’s pure madness but it doesn’t have to be. Educating ourselves along with some good ‘ole common sense is the way out of the mayhem.

Holistic Nutrition is the practice of integrating a whole perspective thought process to health. We analyze food choices, cooking methods, how these impact the environment and how those environmental problems turn back around to affect our health. You see, everything is connected. SunCodes Nutrition aims to give reliable and pertinent information to help guide you to make choices that work for you and your family. At the core, health is ultimately dependent upon the body’s ability to create energy at the cellular level.  The SunCodes blog is dedicated to breaking down the information easily for you because understanding the why, in my opinion, is more important than knowing the what when it comes to nutritional choices. Let’s begin this journey by getting an understanding of the fundamental principle of energy production.

The term mitochondria should be a staple word in everyone’s vocabulary. Many of us are unfamiliar with this term and it’s significance to human health. Understanding this and the role it plays in every aspect of our existence is crucial to preventing diseases and illnesses because

all disease arise from the inability of mitochondria to produce adequate energy.

Energy is made from a biochemical transformations of glucose into Adenosine 5′ Triphosphate (ATP) through the use of enzymes and cofactors within the cytosol and mitochondria of the cell.  Each cell contains anywhere from 1 to 10,000 mitochondria. The cells that contain the highest populations of mitochondria are found in muscles, like the Heart, and in nerve cells.  In fact, mitochondria make up more than 20% of the total weight of the heart and liver. These guys are deemed the powerhouse of the cell. This is where all the magic happens. When mitochondria lack adequate nutritional nourishment, they are unable to produce the amount of energy needed to fight off disease and keep us healthy.

Chronic fatigue is an indicator that the body is not producing adequate energy, or ATP.  Fatigue is the underlying symptom among all disease. When we address fatigue and supply the body with the essentials it needs to create cellular energy, the body will heal and repair itself. That is what is was designed to do! This is achieve by focusing on mitochondrial energy support. Nutritionally supplying the mitochondria with what they need in therapeutic amounts initiates the innate healing ability of the body.

Essentials for Mitochondrial Energy Production:

  • Oxygen
  • Nutrients
  • Movement
  • Rest
  • Positive Thoughts
  • Hope

Mitochondria are destroyed by:

  • Stress
  • Heavy Metals
  • Carbon Monoxide
  • Internalized Emotions
  • Pesticides
  • Acidic Cellular Environments

Food can only be 1 of 2 of things:

  1. Medicine
  2. Poison

It can not be both. SunCodes Nutrition is devoted to educating readers on how to assist the body in creating optimal energy production by using Food as Medicine in order to live a healthy and prosperous life free of disease and illness, one post at a time.
