Where do you get your protein? Chances are no one has ever asked you that question if you are a meat eater. If you do eat meat, then I propose this question to you instead:
Where do the animals you eat get their protein from?
In the United States the majority of animals consumed as food are typically cows, pigs, and chickens. In their natural environments, these animals predominantly eat foods derived from plants. They eat grass, leaves, flowers, fruits, mushrooms, twigs, and bark from bushes or trees. If this is a fact then one must propose the question of how these animals obtain their protein sources. The answer is quite simple. These animals get their protein from the plants they eat.
ONLY PLANTS MAKE PROTEIN
All protein is initially made by plants. Photosynthesis is the process in which plants transform sunlight energy into chemical energy by the conversion of CO2 (carbon dioxide) and inorganic nutrients (those lacking carbon dioxide). During this process, a chemical element called nitrogen is extracted and broken it apart into smaller molecules. These nitrogen molecules are incorporated into the amino acids within the plant. This process and union of molecules is the foundation in which all protein is made.
It is completely unnecessary to eat animals to obtain protein.
The idea that only animal tissue contains protein is a programmed belief embedded into our societies’ mind by an industry that profits billions of dollars each year from its sales. The problem is that many diseases and illnesses are directly linked to the consumption of animals and their byproducts. In addition, many other detrimental aspects surrounding this topic are virtually unknown to the average consumer. The animal agriculture industry is committed to keeping this information out of the public in order to keep sales high. This is undoubtedly a devastating disservice to the public and entire world. We have the right to make our own choices but what are the consequences of those decisions when we do not have all of the pertinent information? This article is dedicated to providing you with the information needed to empower you to decide for yourself if these are products you want to spend your money on.
Heart Disease is the number one killer of Americans. Complications stemming from poor heart function accounts for roughly 1 death every 38 seconds. So what are the leading causes of Heart Disease?
- Stress
- Arachidonic acid
- Smoking
Eating animal flesh will immediately expose you to two of the three top causes; stress and arachidonic acid (pronounced “a-rack-a-donic”).
When we think about stress, most people envision a difficult boss, disobedient kids, or lack of money. Most of us rarely think about the foods we eat as being stressful but dietary choices are just as stressful to the body as being stuck in traffic and being late to work. The body is an intelligent machine that keeps us alive without us really having to do much. As smart as it is, it cannot differentiate between different types of stress. Stress is stress and it affects the body the same.
Animal products are extremely stressful to the body. When consumed, these products begin to cause damage at the very core of our existence; our cells. Most of us don’t even realize it because this type of damage occurs below the perception of pain. We just regard our constant tiredness as normal when in fact it is cellular damage occurring.
Cellular inflammation and the body’s inability to produce energy at the cellular level is the initiating cause of all disease.
From a Holistic Nutrition perspective, it is imperative to eliminate foods that cause cellular damage and introduce foods that promote cell repair for optimal health. Learning to remove mental stress is also crucial for tip-top health and our food choices greatly influence this as well.
Arachidonic acid is a saturated fatty acid that sits in cell membranes and is the most dangerous of all fats when consumed in excess. It is known as an omega 6 fatty acid and is found in animal tissue and eggs.
Saturated fat clogs arteries which restricts blood flow. If blood cannot flow freely to and from the heart, it will stop. This condition results in heart failure (heart attack) and/or stroke. Some refer to a stroke as a “brain attack”. It occurs when blood flow to the brain is cut off leaving the brain deprived of oxygen.
Animal flesh and eggs contain high amounts of an omega 6 fatty acid with arachidonic acid. It promotes inflammation in the body which is damaging at the cellular level. Omega 6 with arachidonic acid:
- Suppresses immune system
- Promotes formation of blood clots
- Promotes increase in cellular growth (leads to cancer)
- Promotes arthritis, mood disorders, osteoporosis, obesity
Fact: 1 in 4 people will die from a heart disease related illness
Animals raised and killed for food are under severe stress throughout their lives. Both physically and mentally. From the food given to them, to substandard living conditions, to the pharmaceutical drugs and vaccine injections, to their brutally painful murders. Animal agriculture uses words like “free-range” and “organic”, “grass fed” and “humane”. These are all marketing campaigns used to sell more products.
There is nothing humane happening to animals in confined animal feeding operations. Furthermore, there is no humane way to kill a living creature that bleeds, feels pain, and does not want to die.
The majority of land animals who are killed for the use of human food comes from Confined Animal Feeding Operations (CAFO). These animals are very sick due to poor living conditions, inadequate food and water supply, lack of sunlight and lack of movement. These animals are so sick that 70% of ALL antibiotics are manufactured just for them.
These animals are confined to cramped living quarters with the inability to move, stretch, sit down, scratch themselves or anything else. They eat, poop and pee all in the same place. Confined Animal Feeding Operations animals are fed:
- Dead animals
- Poop and other animal waste
- Plastic pellets
- 13.5 million pounds of antibiotics
- GMO grains
- Growth hormones
These animals don’t stand a chance to be healthy with these types of obstacles. In fact, these animals get cancers too. It is not cost effective for each animal’s tissue to be thoroughly inspected before it’s turned into food. Cancers, pus from infections, hair and poop stuck to that hair are ground up into food and sold in your local market.
Would you be able to see these things in your food? Remember: the most dangerous things to us can’t be seen.
Confined animals are given astronomical amounts of vaccines in attempt to prevent disease. 99% of these animals are vaccinated. If animals die from disease, there is no money to be profited. With trillions of dollars at stake, vaccines and antibiotics are routinely given.

Vaccine ingredients are highly toxic and have been confirmed to cause death and many neurological illnesses (brain diseases). Two particular ingredients, mercury and aluminum, are metals that are extremely harmful to the brain. Because the body does not eliminate heavy metals from the body easily, an accumulation of these dangerous metals occurs and damage sets in over time. These metals have been shown to cause the neurons in the brain to die which can lead to conditions such as:

Insightful fact: The mercury-containing flu shots, ALONE, in early childhood will EXCEED the EPA guidelines for maximum daily exposure by 3.5x to 250x.
Supposing an individual already exceeds the exposure guidelines from vaccinations, what is the potential health concerns when these ingredients are continually absorbed into the body on a regular basis? This significantly increases the risk of brain disease such as Alzheimer’s and Parkinson’s.
Super bugs are anti-biotic resistant bacteria that have formed from the overuse of antibiotics. These bacteria have mutated into forms that can resist current pharmaceutical drugs. With over 70% of all manufactured antibiotics being produced for animal agriculture, how many of these are being stored in your cells with every bite?
Greenhouse emissions are gasses that trap heat in the atmosphere. This is the effect of global warming. Animal agriculture is responsible for 51% of all greenhouse emissions. That is more than ALL of the transportation emissions on the entire planet. This is due to methane gas released by the animals. Cows produce 150 billion gallons of methane per day. Methane gas is 25-100 times more destructive than carbon dioxide to the atmosphere and has a global warming potential 86 times more than carbon dioxide. In addition, the waste (feces and urine) from animal agriculture pollutes and contaminates our water and soil. This contamination leads to further human disease.
Animal agriculture also uses tremendous amounts of water:
- 80-90% of US water consumption is for animal agriculture
- 34-76 trillion gallons annually
- Growing feed crops for livestock: 56% of water in the US.
- 2,500 gallons of water are needed to produce 1 pound of beef
- 477 gallons of water are required to produce 1 pound of eggs
- 900 gallons of water needed for 1 pound of cheese
- 1,000 gallons of water are required to produce 1 gallon milk
- Animal agriculture is responsible for 20%-33% of all fresh water consumption in the world
Insightful fact: one football field of tropical rainforest is destroyed every 6 seconds to produce the equivalent of 257 hamburgers.
Insightful fact: all of the grains and water given to animals raised for food is enough to feed EVERY single starving person on the planet.
Perspective: when we purchase and eat animals and their byproducts, we directly contribute to world hunger.
How many people we could feed by giving these grains and water to starving people? How many people could we feed by growing crops that regenerate year after year instead of destructive animal agriculture?
Are our bodies designed to eat animal flesh? Every living thing is innately designed perfectly for survival. We must observe how our body processes food to make that determination. The two main constituents of digestion are chewing, which involve the teeth, and processing of the food which is done by way of digestion. There are clear distinctions between animals who eat other animals (carnivores) and those who eat plants (herbivories). Let’s discern a few differences beginning with tooth morphology.
Most chewing is done in the back of the mouth on teeth called molars. Examining the anatomy of molars can help distinguish those designed to eat meat from those designed to eat plants.
Carnivores (meat-eaters): tigers, bears, cats, dogs, etc.
- Long, sharp, jagged molars
- Jaws move only up and down
Herbivores (plant-eaters): cows, pigs, horses, etc.
- Stumpy, flat molars
- Jaws move up and down, left and right
The chewing mechanism for herbivores is designed to crush and grind plant material. This is accomplished by the jaws moving up and down as well as moving left to right. This type of chewing is suitable for foods like nuts, grains, fruits and vegetables whereas carnivores have razor like teeth designed to rip muscle tissue from bone only.
The front six teeth in humans are called incisors. They are designed to sever parts of food in order to move them to the back of the mouth for crushing and grinding. They are not designed for chewing.
Do you naturally chew on your front 6 teeth? Or do you use them to bite off pieces of food where you subsequently move it to the back molars to chew?
Next we must consider how food is processed in the system. The digestive tract in carnivores (meat-eaters) is very short. This design allows for the passing of raw meat quickly through the system as true meat-eaters do not spend a great amount of time chewing before food is swallowed. In addition, omnivores do not have enzymes present in their saliva.
Herbivores (plant-eaters) consume foods that require more effort to digest. They have very long and complex digestive systems and their saliva contains digestive enzymes that aid in the process.
The human digestive anatomy is very long and complex. Digestive enzymes are present in saliva. Molars are flat and stumpy and the jaw has the ability to move up and, as well as left and right.
You decide: does the human anatomy mimic that of omnivores (meat-eaters) or of herbivores (plant-eaters)?
Have you ever wondered why or how you can feel tension? The reason is because everything is energy and everything is connected by energy. The holistic perspectives unites this principal. From a nutritional stand-point, lets consider the following by connecting dots.
Energy Can Not Be Destroyed. It Can Only Transfer From One Form To Another. This is the Law of Conservation Of Energy

Applying the Law of Conservation of Energy, where do these energies go when the animals are killed? What happens when we eat it? Perhaps into our own tissue thus lowering our own energy?
- Animals killed and sold as food are SICK
- Animals killed and sold as food are loaded with VACCINES and ANTIBIOTICS
Applying common sense, how can one eat sick and diseased animals and expect health? These principals are often referred to as Karmic Energy otherwise known as the universal Cause and Effect.
For every cause exists a definitive effect.
For every effect exists a definitive cause.
Food is energy. Food is information. Food is emotion. Choosing foods that stress the body such as those that contain arachidonic acid, antibiotics, vaccines, and pain & fear energies stimulate the energy draining reactions that mimic their counterpart per cause and effect. These foods engage the body’s sympathetic “Fight or Flight” response resulting in imbalances in the body including, but not limited to:
- Unworthiness
- Mental chatter
- Internalization
- Fear
- Anxiety
- Frustration
- Depression
- Isolation
Foods that are supportive in engaging energy cultivating responses such as those found in organically wholesome fruits, vegetables, grains, beans and legumes will activate the body’s parasympathetic nervous system of “Rest and Digest”. This promotes energy cultivating responses such as, but not limited to:
- Positive internal dialogue
- Satisfaction
- Rational decision making
- Forgiveness
- Trust
- Patience
- Confidence
- Building relationships
Americans consume more than double the amount of protein by eating animals and animal byproducts at nearly every meal. True omnivores such as lions, tigers, and bears do not eat animals every day. Some of them eat once per week if they are fortunate enough to find prey.
In addition, Americans eat less than half of the necessary fiber needed to pass foods efficiently through the digestive tract. Consuming a well-rounded organic plant-based diet will provide all the necessary protein and fiber needed for optimal human health.
